decent, law-abiding citizens

cnn.com just ran an article called “10 ways to avoid a speeding ticket.” i’m thinking you just need one. 3 guesses about what that is.

this sort of thing irks me. yes, irks.

it’s like the time a friend and i were driving past a very-drunk driver whose headlights weren’t on. rather than call the police about the reckless, suburban-driving, wasted menace on Lamar, my friend suggested we tell him to turn his lights on — that way he wouldn’t get caught and have to be jailed/fined/take defensive driving. (further complicating the moral debate is the fact that the same friend’s spouse was later hit by a drunk driver — all parties sustained only minor injuries.)

maybe you don’t want to be a tattler, but really, folks — do we need to help people break the law?

revolution

i am going to try and reduce my carbon footprint. yes, really, i am; yes, its still the same me (it was five days in boston, not seven years in tibet!). on my flights to boston i read American Airline’s annual green edition of American Way, and it had a lot of cool articles about going green. and while i am still going to do some things (like dry cleaning. i’m sorry. i just LOVE that skirt and it MUST be dry cleaned), i am also going to try and NOT do other things. like i will not buy a car just yet. i mean, i really don’t need one (esp if i move to boston, as i am considering — more on that in a later post), i am going to try and remember to take my cloth grocery bags to the store (i do own them, i just forget a lot), and i am going to try and save energy in my apartment, even though i don’t have to pay for it.

more later. am swamped at work.

biggest people-trap ever built by a mouse

have i mentioned how much i love disneyland. i mean i REALLY love disneyland. love love love. and for YEARS (literally every single time i go back home to anaheim), i have been trying to get someone (anyone!) in my family to go with me, but no one ever will. they always say it’s too expensive, and so it’s been about 8-10 years since i last visited those happy grounds.

imagine my utter delight when my brother got a job working for the Walt Disney Co., and with it, several free tickets. (true story: when my brother announced that he had gotten the job, my other brother’s words were “oh nicole is going to love it.”) so anyway, THIS time when i went home for break, the five of us kids spent a day in the magical kingdom. and let me just say: SO. MUCH. FUN. i love disneyland! love love love.
we spent a fair amount of money on churros, and i bought purple mickey ears (they had tinkerbell on the front!). i can’t repeat it enough: so. much. fun.
