once upon a time, i started writing a little story with a sharpie and some colored markers. i posted some of it on this blog for a while, but then, when i began to seriously edit and revise it, i took it down. but now (at last?) it’s done! and thanks to this awesome (of the love-love-love calibre) program called blurb, i’ve put the story together into a little book.
if you’re in the mood for a once-upon-a-time with a happily-ever-after and a very different in-between, take a look. (click the cover to see the book at blurb.)
ok so there’s no easy/delicate way to say this, but i feel sort of compelled to: the blurb site has a “buy” option, but don’t do it. not that you would want to, but if on the random off-chance you did. but not that you would. anyway, its too too pricey, and as much as i love blurb, i’m not using it to try and sell you this book. the preview option is just so great that i couldn’t help using it. also, click the “full screen” option in the bottom right corner for more convenient viewing.
[edit: i titled this book "something like a fairy tale" when i first started working on it because i didn't want to be bothered with thinking up a proper title. it was always only the working title, and i somehow lost sight of that. but in the past couple of days, i've revisited the title issue, and so now the book is officially called once upon a princess. 2/8/2011]
LIKE! I like the how the princess and gypsy prince drawings match, like the way some of the wording reminds me of A.A. Milne, like the wandering, and like the capitalization. And I like that they’re now all together so it’s easy to see the whole thing. By the way, I didn’t know you liked to draw. Very cool :-) Can’t wait to see what happens…
I really enjoyed the illustrations for this story, especially the one of the shoe.
Finally! A princess who falls in love but manages to have a happily ever after, even without her prince. I like it that they both have their own lives. This is the type of fairy tale our kids should be reading.
omgosh im such an idiot. i totally left out pages! sorry!! it’s corrected now… not as likable as before, i suppose. the worst part about this mistake is this: i wanted a real copy of this story for myself, so i ordered it on one of those print-your-own-picture-book sites, only i ordered it missing pages too!! sigh. fail.
awesome. LOVED the ending. :)
I want Eloise to read this! :)
